With more than 80 years of collective experience, Bingham McHale’s insurance group provides effective, comprehensive counsel to the insurance industry.

We represent insurers in regulatory proceedings before the Indiana Department of Insurance. We advise national and regional insurance companies about complex coverage issues that arise in the property and casualty lines of business, including construction defect, environmental, personal injury and advertising injury, products liability, and toxic tort claims. When insurance coverage issues result in litigation, our responsive attorneys represent our clients in state and federal courts at every stage of litigation, including document discovery, depositions, motion practice, jury and court trials, appeals and alternative dispute resolution. We also represent insurance trade associations appearing as amicus curiae in appellate cases deciding coverage issues that are important to the insurance industry.

In addition to representing our insurance clients in coverage matters, we are retained by them to defend their policyholders in lawsuits involving many substantive areas of the law. Our attorneys have represented policyholders in the substantive areas of civil rights, construction defect, defamation, environmental, labor, medical malpractice, personal injury, premises liability, products liability, professional liability (including attorney malpractice) and toxic torts.
