Bingham McHale Gears Up For RAC Audits

FilesFor more than 20 years, lawyers at Bingham McHale have represented long-term care clients in criminal, civil, regulatory and administrative matters throughout the country. As Special Counsel to the Indiana Health Care Association, we have provided emergency hot-line legal advice 24/7 to providers who are confronted with Attorney General neglect and abuse investigations. To respond to the government's increased regulatory scrutiny of health care providers through RAC audits, Bingham McHale has expanded the services we provide to our clients. This issue of the Long-Term Care Bulletin focuses on the latest tool in the government arsenal, RAC audits that are set to start nationwide by January 1st. We appreciate David Beck sharing with us and our readers Golden Living's experience during the demonstration phase of RAC audits and hope that his advice and tips are of benefit to others in the industry as we embark on the next chapter in health care government monitoring.

Bingham McHale has partnered with some of the nation's leading accounting firms to provide comprehensive services to our health care and long-term care clients who experience RAC audits. For more than 20 years, we have used a team approach in responding to the needs of our clients, and RAC audits are no exception. Effective representation of clients in RAC audits requires assistance of the company's accounting and billing staff, outside accountants and attorneys. Working together, we can keep costs down and maximize the likelihood of a successful outcome. The team approach that has resulted in success over the past 20 years in responding to criminal investigations involving neglect, abuse and health care fraud, and in defending civil lawsuits and regulatory investigations, will benefit our clients as the RAC audit program goes nationwide in the next few months.
