Utilities
Bingham McHale began the practice of public utility law in the
1930s with our work on the state’s interurban transportation
system. We effectively represent clients in all areas of utility
law before state, local and federal courts; boards and agencies;
and the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Our responsive attorneys
provide utilities, municipalities, developers and utility consultants
with a broad spectrum of utility-related services, advice and representation,
combining substantive knowledge with extensive experience in electric,
gas, telecommunications, water and wastewater services.
Our core sewer utility abilities include:
- utility formation and certification proceedings;
- rate-setting and design;
- utility financing;
- territorial expansion;
- customer relations;
- infrastructure issues and more.
Our core utility work includes:
- rate cases and rate analysis and acquisition adjustments;
- financial transactions;
- negotiation of industrial rate contracts;
- construction programs;
- service territory acquisition and dispute resolution;
- zoning proceedings and utility exemption from local zoning
issues and more.
